Privacy Policy

The short version

• This website has no user accounts, contact forms or newsletter sign-ups, and it does not use analytics, advertising trackers or tracking pixels.
• luckyglider.org itself does not set cookies or store anything in your browser.
• Our web server keeps standard access logs (including IP addresses) for no more than 90 days.
• Donations are processed by Give Lively. Videos come from YouTube, and the map on our Contact page comes from Google Maps. Each of these services handles your information under its own privacy policy.

Information our web server records

Like nearly every website, our server automatically keeps an access log of requests to the site. Each entry includes:

• your IP address
• the date and time
• the page or file requested
• the referring page
• your browser’s user-agent and other standard request headers
• the server’s response

We use these logs only to run the site, keep it secure and fix problems. The server deletes them automatically, and we keep them for no more than 90 days. We host the site on our own server and do not use any analytics service to process these logs.

Donations and animal sponsorships (Give Lively)

Our donation forms, the “Donate Today” form shown on most pages and our animal virtual-adoption pages are provided by Give Lively, a nonprofit fundraising platform. The forms load from secure.givelively.org.

When you donate, Give Lively collects:

• your name, email address and other contact details
• the donation amount, date and frequency
• your payment information

Card and bank payments are handled by Give Lively’s payment processors (Stripe, PayPal or Shift4). According to Give Lively, neither Give Lively nor we ever see or store your full payment details.

Give Lively shares the following with us so that we can receive and acknowledge your gift:

• your name and email address
• the donation amount, date and frequency
• the donation page you used
• any other information you enter on the form

We use this information only to process your donation, to send receipts and other messages about your gift (for sponsors, this includes the personal updates on their animal), to answer your questions and to keep the records the law requires. We never sell, rent, trade or share donor information with anyone else, except where the law requires it. We do not use donor email addresses for newsletters or fundraising appeals.

To protect its forms against automated abuse, Give Lively uses a bot-protection service (DataDome), which can set a cookie on the givelively.org domain. The donation form also loads fonts from Google Fonts. To read more, see Give Lively’s Privacy Policy and its Data Privacy and Security page.

Videos (YouTube)

Many of our posts include videos that are hosted on YouTube. Before you press play, the page only shows a preview image, which your browser loads from YouTube’s image server (i.ytimg.com). The YouTube player does not load until you click it. When it does, it uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once a video is playing, Google and YouTube may collect information about your viewing under Google’s Privacy Policy.

Map (Google Maps)

Our Contact page includes an embedded Google Map of our location. The map loads when you scroll to it, and Google receives your IP address and other information about your browser when it does. The map is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Cookies

luckyglider.org does not set its own cookies. Third-party services on our pages may set cookies on their own domains, such as Give Lively’s bot-protection cookie or Google’s cookies when you play a video or use the map. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block them, the donation form or embedded content may not work.

Links to other websites

Our site links to other websites, including our pages on Facebook, YouTube, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and Google. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle information.

Google Ads

We use the Google Ad Grants program to show ads for our work on Google Search. When you click one of our ads, Google’s own privacy policy covers what happens on Google’s side. This website does not currently use any Google Ads or Google Analytics tags. If we add measurement tools in the future, we will update this policy first.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information through a donation, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

• To ask what donor information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email donations@luckyglider.org.
• To change or cancel a recurring donation, sign in to the Give Lively User Portal or email us.

Security

The whole site is served over encrypted HTTPS. Donation forms are served over HTTPS by Give Lively.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
