Manny is one of our friendly Painted Desert Sheep mixes. He was born in February of 2013 to Mitzy. Manny is a favorite of visitors to the sanctuary because he is very curious and friendly, unlike most sheep.
In 2015, Manny suffered a broken fibula leg bone. This was probably a result of jostling with the goats, so soon after we were able to separate the sheep from the goats to limit dominant ramming. It took about 7 weeks for the bone to heal, and fortunately this was a matter of isolation and limited movement in a dedicated pen. During that time, Manny became very friendly with us humans.
Of all the sheep, Manny is the most curious. And when it comes time to eat, Manny is always front and center, and even has a habit of pushing gates open to get to feed in the prep area!
