Herschel is one of our friendly donkeys here at Lucky Glider Ranch. Herschel came from a farm in the Texoma area along with several other donkeys. Out of all the larger “American Mammoth” sized donkeys here, he is the most timid.
If you want to know where Herschel is, all you have to do is look for his dark brown buddy, Jules. They are always together! We think Herschel is the offspring of Zeus and BonBon but there is no way to know for sure.
Herschel needs a lot of coaxing when it comes time to trim his hooves. Like the other larger males, he needs to be sedated, and it is hard to cull him out of the herd because he runs and hides behind the other donkeys when it’s his turn. Herschel, however, is a favorite of visitors here at the ranch and will readily take carrots by hand if you have any!
Are you interested in virtually adopting Herschel? If you would like to help him with veterinary bills, feed, and shared shelter, you can donate any monthly amount and receive personal updates on Herschel.
